Sat. Jan. 1 & Sun. Jan. 2, 1898

Since I started this project half way through 2011, I thought I would pick up Warren's diary at the beginning of 1898 to cover what was missed. One of the interesting farming items is that the marketing of food produced on the farm appears to take place mostly in the winter which is opposite of what we see today. You will notice that every Saturday Warren is "in market". I also know from account books that I have that his daughter Sara would take orders for canned vegetables and deliver them to her customer's homes. This now called "value-adding" in the local food movement and Sara was doing this 100 years ago.

Enjoy
