Essays on a life in agriculture. Also posted here are the diary entries of Warren G. Bean, my great grandfather. Warren G. Bean lived from 1866 till 1949. He was a farmer and a Mennonite bishop for the Franconia Conference of the Mennonite church in Montgomery County Pennsylvania. My hope is that others might take some inspiration. Warren started farming on his own in the late 19th century; I started in the late 20th.

My apologies for the week long absence. We lost power for eight days on our farm due to the snow storm on Oct. 29. Living without electricity made my daily chores seem much closer to what Warren's chores might have been although I'm sure he had systems in place (like pumping water without electric) to do what he needed to do.
We haven't missed very much. Warren spent most of the week husking corn.

Clear or nearly so. Cold and windy.
Went to mill 2 times. Thrashed some oats. Hauled some nubbins.
